Shaping Sound Dances into Tampa!
Shaping Sound is a contemporary dance company created by Emmy©-nominated choreographers Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance, and Kyle Robinson. Featuring jazz, modern and hip-hop choreography, these life long friends have created a wildly successful company that has been showcased on some of America’s popular primetime dance, awards, entertainment and music shows including: “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Dancing With The Stars,” “Glee,” “American Idol,” “The Voice” and “The 2013 Prime-time Emmy Awards” to name a few. They have also toured internationally with an impressive array of the world’s top recording artists, and with award-winning dance companies.
As the show begin a story line was set into place. Shaping Sound has a brilliant way, with minimal props, of bringing you into a scene. The story follows the life cycle of relationships, good and bad. We won’t give too much away though but you are taken on a journey. The musical sequences go from big band jazz numbers to slower contemporary style dance. Seeing the dancers you watch on tv come alive was simply amazing. The turns and jete´s were absolutely mesmerizing, at times it seemed as if they would touch the ceiling. The stage presence and artistry behind the movements brings the viewer through a variety of emotions. New addition to the cast Ricky Ubeda, winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 11, was one of our highlights. Ricky, being a Florida native has always been a little favorite of ours here at DWC. Ricky was enchanting, every leap, jump and turn was met with that award winning smile we all remember.
This year they set out on a 28 city tour across Canada and the United States, stopping last night in Tampa, Florida. Filling the Straz Center for Performing Arts, dancers from all around the Florida area were in attendance along with members of our Dancewear Corner Marketing team and our Brand Ambassador, Lexi Babadelis. After the show we were given the thrill of a lifetime with an intimate meet and greet with the cast and crew. Even with as much success as these talented dancers have had combined with a long few months of travel and dance, they continued to greet people with such enthusiasm. Signing autographs and spending time with all their fans truly shows how much this cast appreciates the dancers and patrons at each show.
We highly recommend if Shaping Sound is in your area to go see this one of a kind show. Please visit their site to view their upcoming performance schedule and get more information about this wonderfully talented group.
