Sara Mearns appeared at DanceWear Corner for a special event to celebrate the launch of her new SoDanca clothing line. The whole event included a fashion show, a Q&A, and a meet and greet including an autograph session with Sara Mearns.
Here are some pictures from the event.
Named as the “Great American ballerina of the era” by Alastair Macaulay of the The New York Times, Mearns has spent nearly all of her time in a leotard since she first walked into a dance class at the age of three in South Carolina. Now as a Principal Dancer for New York City Ballet she knows how a well-fitting leotard can boast a dancer’s confidence. It is because of this that she has the ability to identify quality dancewear and put forth exceptional designs in her collection with So Danca.
Known to some as a rockstar Ballerina, she wanted her collection to reflect this, but she also wanted the line to remain classic and show off the dancers form. This is why she choose the materials that she did as well as the design.
During the fashion show, Sara had some time to explain her designs while the models danced to show how the outfits perform.
After all this, dancers were able to ask Sara Mearn’s some important questions ranging from questions about her career to whether or not she likes improv dance.
