Dance Tip Tuesday- Improve your Pointe
Here are some stretching and strengthening exercises to help you improve your pointe!!
We love these new foot stretchers!! They are very simple to use and give you great results. All you have to do is is place your foot in the rubber part at the top of the stretcher and slowly straighten your leg. You can get your own foot stretcher at our Orlando Superstore!!
Foot Arch Stretch
To do this stretch bend at your knees all the way down so your bottom is sitting on your heels. Go into a high relevé, hold here for 20 seconds then move your arms forward and backwards staying in the high relevé.
Roll Toe Over Plié Standing
Stand tall with your feet together. Roll over one foot and take a deep plié. Hold this for 30 seconds then switch sides. This stretches the top of the foot. The deeper your plié the harder the stretch gets.
Pointe-Flexes with a Theraband
This is a stretch and a strengthening exercise. You want to place the middle of the Theraband on the tops of your feet and grab either side of the band. Then you want to slowly pointe and flex working through your feet. You can snag one of these Gaynor Minden bands on our website!! Click the picture to get your own!!
Don’t forget to strengthening when you stretch!! You can’t use your flexibility if you don’t have the strength to hold it. Sit in a chair with a towel laid out flat on the ground. You want to use your toes to pull the towel all the way to the end. This will strengthen your toes and the arch of your foot.
Do not sickle!!
Do not put too much pressure right on the top of the foot!!
