We here at DanceWear Corner wanted to shine a special spotlight on this Photographer and learn a little more about her and her craft.

What are three things that you have to keep with you at all times?

My insulated water cup…hydration!  My phone because in addition to business, I’m a Mom and need to be reachable.  And some sort of protein bar because I never know when I’ll work over the scheduled time or get pulled in another direction and not get to eat otherwise.

Which do you like more taking the pictures or editing them? Why?

I’d have to say I like taking photos more.  My style is semi-journalistic, so I don’t edit abundantly.

What is your favorite part about being a photographer? Why?

I love that I get to stop time.  Whether it’s catching the perfect grande jete or catching that funny, all-teeth smile a toddler gives, I am able to preserve that moment forever.

How did you get interested in photography?

My mother-in-law bought a Canon DSLR around the time my daughter was born.  I fell in love with how sharp the images were, and when my daughter was a little over a year old, I purchased my first (used) Sony DSLR.  I started photographing her for fun, and it wasn’t long before I had friends and coworkers asking me to photograph their families and children.

Of all the states that you have photo shoots in, which is your favorite? Why?

  West Virginia because it’s home.

6.) When you are not behind the camera or editing what are you doing?

My family and I love to be outdoors.  We love to hike, so we love to visit state parks and their trails.

Dancewear Corner Spotlight Photographers: Micheal Vok Pick and Jessica R. Bunger

Evoke Studio

Evoke Studio is a collaborative studio located in southwest Florida servicing the state of Florida and beyond. Michael Vok Pick and Jessica R. Bunger are the dynamic duo behind Evoke Studio and together they have created a remarkably various portfolio ranging from wedding and engagement photos to senior portraits, headshots, and dance photography. From the very beginning of their collaboration, they realized with their combination of expertise and exuberance that they could start fire underwater and so, Evoke Studio was born!

Along with their extensive portfolio, Michael and Jessica have created 360-degree experiences for dancers so they have the space to showcase the fullness of their talent through still images and video. While the end products of these projects are important, their goal is also to create beautiful memories of the experience as a whole.  From the moment they schedule a session with a dancer, all the way through to the 48-hour delivery turnaround, Michael and Jessica are putting their decades of experience to work for the dancer and her/his support team. Their decades of experience working with parents and student-athletes makes their partnership something destined for dance photography awesomeness.

They believe that a picture should not only say a thousand words but also evoke a thousand feelings as well, or at least a feeling. Be sure to check out more of their work at

Photographer Spotlight Norelle Marquez

Norelle Marquez is a wonderful photographer who runs Digital Dreams Photography. She currently makes her home in California and you can find her on Instagram @ddpdance where she shares photos from her recent shoots, but we wanted to get to know her a little better.

What are three things that you have to keep with you at all times?

Being a military spouse, my military ID is with me 24/7. I also have water and my cellphone with me at all times.

Which do you like more taking the pictures or editing them? Why?

This is a tough choice! I’d have to say I really enjoy creating what I call “photo magic” with my dancers and spending a fun-filled day trying crazy poses and helping them reach their full potential.

What is your favorite part about being a photographer? Why?

Photography fills me with happiness and unforgettable memories.  Plenty of jobs could do that, but only a photographer can capture those moments forever!

How did you get interested in photography?

Growing up, I spent a great deal of time in front of the camera as a model. As the years went by, I grew more and more interested in what the photographer was doing over me actually modeling. At 15, I was gifted my first “real” camera (dslr) and I have spent the last five years working each day to improve myself and my business.

Of all the states that you have photoshoots in, which is your favorite? Why?

California offers so much diversity that I’m just not sure any other state could beat it! I can work at the beach, in the busy city, urban areas, open fields, and so much more. I love being able to offer my clients so many beautiful locations to choose from.

When you are not behind the camera or editing what are you doing?

Most of the time you’ll find me watching Netflix with my husband, pup, and cat while eating something with chocolate in it. I have a major sweet tooth! The rest of my time is usually spent driving back home to Arizona to visit with my mom and help her with home renovation and decoration projects.

Photographer Spotlight Jonathan Givens

Jonathan Givens

Jonathan Givens is the author and photographer of the book Dance Across The USA. This book showcases a collection of dancers from all over America. As well as focuses on what is both beautiful and inspiring about this country. What makes this project so amazing is that all of the photographs are real and all the dancers are actually in the locations depicted. Over the course of 90 days Jonathan drove 22,264 miles, created 22,160 photographs and photographed 163 dancers in 56 locations throughout the 50 states. He wanted this project to be something that both supports the entertainment industry that he loves as well as gives back. So a portion of the proceeds of the book will be donated to the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as to America’s parks

Jonathan originally began as an all around entertainment guy; acting, dancing and singing while  touring the country with multiple productions. That is until an injury forced him off stage, but this did not stop his creative passions. He turned his attention toward theatrical tech work and later earned a degree of Master of Photography from PPA (Professional Photographers of America. His company is called Entertainment Photography Specialist or EPS for short and you can find his work on instagram @eps_photo where his shows off his latest work. EPS is the world’s only dedicated performer photography studio with sprung floor for dancing as well as rigging points for aerial photography.

He will be having a book signing event at Dancewear Corner’s Superstore on January 6th from 12 to 2, but get there early because after the signing he will be giving mini photo shoots for free to the first 20 people that buy his book at the event.
