Dancewear Corner Spotlight Dancer: Julia Carrano

Say Hello to our featured dancer Julia Carrano . She, along with some other dancers, had the opportunity to get her photo taken by Jonathan Givens at his signing event in Dancewear Corner a few months ago, but we wanted to get to know her a bit better.

1.What is your favorite dance class?

It’s hard to pick, but I would say that I’m really enjoying my jazz class this year.

2. What is your go-to style for leotards?

 Classic but fashionable

3.  If you could perform a duet with any dancer, who would it be and why?

Christopher Gattelli, because he’s an amazing dancer and has choreographed so many successful Broadway musicals; my favorite is Newsies. I also think it would be fun to dance with John Travolta as Danny Zuko, because Grease is my favorite movie and I love 50’s fashion!

4.  What is something you want to work towards in 2018?

I’m really concentrating on my Acro tricks this year.

5.  If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would probably be choreographing combos, or snuggling with my pup.

6.  What is your favorite piece of dance clothing that you own?

I LOVE my new Tiler Peck leo. It’s so pretty and comfortable!

7.  What songs have you completely memorized?

Pretty much every Broadway musical soundtrack! Kinky Boots is my favorite.

8.  Who is your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?

Panic! At the Disco or Charlie Puth

I hope you all have enjoyed learning a bit more about Julia.

Dancewear Corner Spotlight: Mylin Harris

Say Hello to our featured dancer Mylin Harris or @mylin_dancer on Instagram. She, along with some other dancers, had the opportunity to get her photo taken by Jonathan Givens at his signing event in Dancewear Corner a few months ago, but we wanted to get to know her a bit better.

1.What is your favorite dance class?

I love Jazz class! I get to cut loose and have some fun.

2.What is your go-to style for leotards?

I love a classic leotard, but a fashion leotard is so much fun to wear.

3.If you could perform a duet with any dancer who would it be and why?

As long as I can remember I have looked up to my dance sister Brianna Navarro so if I could do a duet with any dancer it would be Bri because I would be learning so much.

4.What is something that you want to work towards in 2018?

I want to work on my flexibility and upper body strength.

5. If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would dance and daydream about dancing in a movie when I grown up.

6. What is your favorite piece of dance clothing that you own/ owned?

I love my new Tyler Peck Leo with ballet skirt. It is so soft and pretty. The lace gives it a very elegant look. Thank you Dancewear Corner.

7. Who’s your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?

Adele and Rihanna have made beautiful music that are my long time go-to songs, but now that I have seen The movie “The Greatest Showman” I think that will be my new go-to music. I can feel every note and can’t wait to try some new choreography with my friends.

I hope you have enjoyed learning a bit more about Mylin.

DanceWear Corner Spotlight Dancer Lauren Mortimer

Lauren Mortimer did a beautiful photo shoot with Jessica Wallis and Alexis Ziemski from Ballet in the City, but we wanted to know a little bit more about her.

1. What did you love about the experience?

I was honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with Dancewear Corner and Ballet in the City for a photo shoot to model dancewear.  I loved modeling and posing in beautiful dancewear and accessories outside, while it snowed.  Jessica Wallis and Alexis Ziemski are awesome to work with and we had fun traveling to a greenhouse for the photoshoot too.  Alexis is an amazing photographer! It’s an experience that I will never forget.

2. What challenges have you overcome in dance and how has that made you a better dancer?

One of the biggest challenges that I had to overcome in dance was four years ago.  I broke my foot five weeks before my studio’s recital.  I was in a boot cast for 3 ½ weeks and had little time to rehab my foot before the recital.  I managed to strengthen my foot and perform in seven numbers.  This injury taught me to focus, even more, on proper technique.  More ballet classes make a stronger dancer!

3. What they liked about the dancewear?

Dancewear Corner provided leotards, tights, Capezio leggings, and other accessories from “Crushing It” the Nutcracker Collection including a white crop tee, bag, white tumbler, and lip balm for the photoshoot.   The dance attire was beautiful, stylish, and most important, easy to move in.  The Nutcracker Collection is perfect for the upcoming holiday season.  I love all of the items!

4. What’s next for you in the world of dance?

In the coming year, I plan to attend more Ballet in the City master classes.  I am preparing for spring dance competitions, our dance studio’s recital, and a trip to NYC.  Thank you to Dancewear Corner and Ballet in the City for selecting me for this project.  I had so much fun!
