started his dance training at the age of seven in Canada. Since that time he has gone on to win many accolades. In 2004, he became the first Canadian to win the Prix de Lausanne competition in Switzerland, and later that year joined the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company. The next year he danced briefly with American Ballet Theatre before he joined Miami City Ballet. In early 2007, he was promoted to the rank of soloist.
Alex auditioned for the FOX dance show, “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2009. Even though he made it through Vega week and was chosen for the final Top 20, he had to withdraw due to contractual issues with the Miami City Ballet. After his experience on the show, Alex was promoted again to the ranks of principal soloist at MCB.
In 2010, Alex was offered another promotion to principal dancer at Miami City Ballet, yet he declined in order to pursue another shot at being America’s favorite dancer on “So You Think You Can Dance”. He went through another grueling Vegas week and again made it to the Top 10, yet on the fifth week of season seven, Alex injured himself, snapping his Achilles tendon. This injury took him out of the race as America’s favorite dancer. He received surgery in Los Angeles and was given a timeframe of a year to fully recover. Later that year, both of the pieces that Alex danced in on “So You Think You Can Dance” which were choreographed by Mia Michaels and Tabatha & Napolean both won Emmy Awards.
Following his surgery, Alex signed with Bloc Talent Agency and booked commercials and several print jobs as well as television jobs as part of the dance ensemble for NBC’s TV series “Smash” directed by Steven Spielberg. Alex went on to appear on “The Ellen Show”, “The Voice”, later he was asked to re-join “So You Think You Can Dance” as an All-Star, but days before starting he was sidelined with another Achilles injury to his other leg and was forced to withdraw. This time during recovery, Alex decided to focus on his singing and action and even auditioned for American Idol making it the semi-final “Hollywood” rounds. He also was invited to many universities as a guest speaker. Despite having two potentially career-ending injuries, Alex returned to dancing professionally through sheer determination, dedication, and optimism. He later had his Broadway debut, playing the role of “Sniper” in the Original Broadway Cast of Disney musical “Newsies” which won two Tony Awards and received six other Tony nominations.
Now Alex is coming to DanceWear Corner on Friday, April 27, 2018, and from 2 to 3 pm you can meet him and take a selfie with him. Click here for more information.

Tiler Peck appeared at DanceWear Corner for a special event to celebrate the launch of her new Body Wrappers clothing line. The whole event included a master class, a fashion show, and a meet and greet including an autograph session with Tiler Peck.
This Master Class was a great opportunity for young dancers to get someone on one criticises and pointers from a professional and accomplished ballet dancer such as Tiler Peck. The Master Class was also observed by the parents of the dancers as well as others who were in the store. This video shows a little bit of this one on one experience.
Tiler Peck then spent some time explaining her process and reasoning behind her new line of dancewear. Because this line was created with someone with the knowledge and experience of a lifetime lived in leotards you can be assured that comfort, wearability, and durability have all been taken into account as well as style. The line includes many unique pieces that every dancer is sure to love.
Then it was time for Tiler Peck to sit down and answer some pressing questions from the dancers followed by a meet and greet as well as an autograph session.
Overall the event was a success and proved to be an excellent opportunity for dancers to learn from and hear some insider information from Tiler Peck herself.
DanceWear Corner will be hosting many events like this one in the future so click here to see what upcoming event will be next.
Tiler Peck is a pretty remarkable woman. Along with being an international award-winning Principal Dancer with the New York City Ballet, she is also an actress and designer. She has made appearances on Dancing With the Stars in season 2, was a guest on Bravo’s TV show Rocco’s Dinner Party, stars in the film Ballet 422 and was a guest star in Julie Andrews’ new Netflix series, Julie’s Greenroom. On top of her TV show accomplishments, Tiler Peck has also been in Broadway productions such as ‘The Music Man’ and ‘Little Dancer’. With all that she has going on, Ms. Peck still finds time to design a line of wonderful leotards, dresses, tutus, shorts, and skirts for Bodywrappers that every dancer would love to preform in.
With all that she has accomplished in the world of Ballet what more could there be, right? Well, how about being the first Ballerina to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In earlier November Tiler Peck took the stage to show Ellen her moves and wow the audiences both in the studio and at home. To read more about Ms. Peck’s visit with Ellen click here.
On March 19, 2018 Dancewear Corner will have the honor of hosting a master class taught by Tiler Peck. Attendance of the master class will be by invitation only at the Orlando Super Store. However, people are welcome to come and observe the class. The event includes the master class itself, a special meet and greet and autograph session, a fashion show premiere of new 2018 Tiler Peck designs and a huge sale on all Bodywrappers merchandise.
